CPN-Maoist Center and Nepal Samajbadi Party agree to unite



KATHMANDU: CPN-Maoist Center and Nepal Samajbadi Party have reached an agreement to merge their parties, marking a significant development in Nepal’s political landscape.

Following a crucial meeting between key leaders of both parties, a joint press statement was issued announcing the decision to unite.

Present at the meeting were Prime Minister and Chairman of Maoist Center, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Senior Vice Chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha, and General Secretary Dev Gurung.

Representing the Nepal Samajbadi Party were Mahendra Raya Yadav, Chairman, Vice Chairman Ganga Narayan Shrestha, and General Secretary Ramesh Prasad Yadav.

Notably absent from the meeting was Babu Ram Bhattarai, the other Chairman of Nepal Samajbadi Party, who had expressed opposition to the unity, leading to internal discord between the two Chairmen.

The joint statement highlighted that while the decision to unite has been reached, the parties are yet to finalize the name of the new unified entity.
