NC leaders advocate for Vedic Sanatan Hindu State in special proposal

KATHMANDU: A considerable number of Nepali Congress (NC) leaders presented a special supplementary proposal emphasizing the reconsideration of the party’s position on Vedic Sanatan Hindu religion during the party’s Central Committee Meeting on Friday.

Twenty-two leaders, consisting of central members and provincial presidents, have endorsed a special supplementary proposal advocating for the Vedic Sanatan Hindu religion and ensuring religious freedom.

Under the leadership of central member Shankar Bhandari, the proposal underscores the timely alignment with the concept of a Hindu state. The leaders handed over a letter bearing signatures from all 22 individuals to the party President, Sher Bahadur Deuba.

The signatories encompass central members such as Chandra Bhandari, Dilendra Prasad Badu, Pushpa Bhusal, Devendra Raj Kandel, Prakash Rasaili Snehil, Rangamati Shahi, Vidya Timalsina, Gehendra Giri, Sita Devkota, Arjun Jung Bahadur Singh, Sitakumari, Sarada Paudel, Champa Devi Khadka, and Nagina Yadav.

Additionally, central members Nripa Bahadur Bad, Sanjay Gautam, Bhim Parajuli, Dinesh Koirala, Mukta Kumari Yadav, and Dr. Dila Sangraula have also expressed their support for the Hindu state.

Similarly, NC Bagmati province president Indra Bahadur Baniya and Gandaki province president Shukra Raj Sharma have endorsed the document advocating for the Vedic Sanatan Hindu state with religious freedom.

The proposal acknowledges that, despite being a broadly inclusive democratic party, the NC has inadvertently opposed the religious sentiments of the majority populace. The leaders argue that it is high time for the party to rectify this stance.

“With 94% of the population in Nepal adhering to the Vedic Sanatan Hindu religion, including Buddhism, Kirat, and others, endorsing the Sanatan Hindu religion, NC made a mistake by standing for secularism and being insensitive to the sentiments of the majority,” emphasized the leaders.
