KATHMANDU: A Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) wide-body aircraft has been grounded due to the detection of a technical problem, resulting in stranded passengers bound for Doha, Qatar.

According to NAC spokesperson Ramesh Poudel, the flight was halted as a technical issue arose with the flight control sensor of the wide-body plane. Technical repairs are currently underway for the grounded aircraft. Poudel mentioned that passengers scheduled for the Doha flight will be rerouted to their destination via an alternative flight later today.

“Passengers on the Doha flight were affected due to a technical problem in the aircraft last night. Arrangements have been made to transfer passengers to their destination on another flight scheduled for 7:45 pm today. Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport by 4:00 pm,” he stated.

Out of NAC’s four planes designated for international routes, a narrow-body plane has been sent to Israel for repairs. The frequent technical glitches in NAC planes have been causing disruptions to flight schedules.

NAC currently operates two narrow-body and two wide-body aircraft for international flights. The 276 passengers originally bound for Doha from Kathmandu were accommodated in a hotel for the night.
