PM Cup Cricket Tournament: Surya Tamang’s hat-trick leads Bagmati to victory over Madhes



KATHMANDU: Bagmati Province secured their first win in the Prime Minister’s Cup Cricket Tournament, defeating Madhes by 86 runs with a stellar performance from spinner Surya Tamang, who claimed six wickets, including a hat-trick.

Set a target of 191 runs at Mulpini Cricket Ground, Madhes was bowled out for 104 runs by Tamang, who exhibited excellent bowling skills throughout the match.

Tamang, in his 29th over, first bowled out Rupesh Singh for 2 runs. In the second ball of the over, he stumped Rajesh Yadav, and in the third ball, he caught Anshu Ansari, completing a hat-trick in a single over.

Afterwards, Tamang dismissed Ranjit Kumar with an LBW in the fourth ball of the over, securing four wickets in one over. He continued his exceptional performance, taking two more wickets in the innings.

Pawan Sarraf top-scored for Madhes with 45 runs, followed by Mayan Yadav with 31, and Niraj Yadav contributed 15 runs. However, none of the other batsmen managed to reach double figures.

In response, Bagmati’s Pratish GC and Ishan Paudel each claimed two wickets, while Rabin Joshi and Ishan Pandey took one wicket each.

Bagmati Province, having lost the toss and batting first, had posted a total of 190 runs in 49.2 overs in their match played at the Mulpini Cricket Ground.

Pratish GC was the highest run-scorer for Bagmati, making 59 runs, followed by Rabin Joshi with 21, and opener Ishan Paudel contributed 15 runs.

For Madhes, Rupesh Singh and Arniko Yadav claimed two wickets each, while Rajesh Yadav, Ranjit Kumar, Harishankar Shah, and Pawan Sarraf took one wicket each.
