Oli on Bidya Bhandari: UML made her President, we’ll bring her back if necessary

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli has dismissed rumors of factionalism within the party, stating that there are no divisions as speculated in the media.

Speaking at a two-day national workshop titled ‘Problems of Party’s Work at the Local Level and Solutions’on Sunday, Oli refuted claims of factions such as the Oli group, Shankar group, Ishwar Pokharel group, and Bishnu Poudel group within the UML.

“There are no factions in our party. I appointed Ishwar Pokharel as Senior Vice-Chairperson, Bishnu Poudel as Vice-Chairperson, and Shankar Pokharel as General Secretary myself,” Oli asserted.

Oli also addressed speculations surrounding former President Bidya Devi Bhandari’s return to the party.

He clarified that no discussions have taken place regarding her return but assured that if needed, the party would welcome her back with respect.

“Bidya Devi Bhandari was made President by the party itself. If the time comes, the party will also take the responsibility of bringing her back,” Oli remarked, adding that there has been no formal dialogue with Bhandari on this matter.

Oli also urged the 300 leaders and cadres present at the workshop to stay vigilant against attempts to divide the UML.

He emphasized that the party grows stronger and more unified in the face of such challenges.
