Bairagi Kaila releases Yakthumba’s memoir

KATHMANDU; Manjul Kumar Singh Yakthumba’s memoir, Prashasan-Samaj-Itihas, was launched during a ceremony in Lalitpur.

The event featured Bairagi Kainla, the former Chancellor of Nepal Academy and a respected litterateur, as the chief guest.

Kainla released the 352-page memoir, which includes 77 articles from various authors, and praised Yakthumba as a thoughtful and analytical individual.

He highlighted Yakthumba’s steadfast decision-making and his unwavering commitment once a decision was made.

Kainla described him as a disciplined civil servant with a deep affection for Kirat/Limbu culture and history. After his career in civil service, Yakthumba dedicated himself to social work, focusing on the preservation and promotion of Kirat/Limbu traditions, customs, and history.

Kainla also acknowledged Yakthumba’s pivotal role in uniting various organizations such as Kirat Yakthung Chumlung, Kirat Rai Yayokkha, Kirat Yakkha Chhumma, and Sunuwar Sewa Samaj, in their shared dedication to the Kirat-Sirijanga script, Kirat religion, and the celebration of the Ubhauli and Udhauli festivals.
