KATHMANDU: The death toll from rain-induced disasters across Nepal since June 10 has risen to 175, according to Nepal Police.
Landslides and floods in various parts of the country have claimed lives, including three fatalities in the Kathmandu Valley.
The toll by province is as follows: Koshi Province recorded 27 deaths, Madhes Province 8, Bagmati Province 31, Gandaki Province 54, Lumbini Province 33, Karnali Province 8, and Sudurpaschim Province 11, as reported by Central Spokesperson of Nepal Police, DIG Dan Bahadur Karki.
In addition to the fatalities, 224 people have been injured in these disasters, with 11 injuries reported in the Kathmandu Valley.
The injuries by province include 37 in Koshi, 11 in Madhes, 23 in Bagmati, 46 in Gandaki, 13 in Lumbini, 55 in Karnali, and 28 in Sudurpaschim.
Police have successfully rescued 113 individuals from disaster-stricken areas, including 28 from the Kathmandu Valley.
However, 49 people remain missing, with Bagmati Province reporting the highest number of missing persons at 41, and Lumbini Province the lowest with just one missing person.
The disasters have also taken a toll on livestock, with 820 cattle reported dead. Since June 10, floods and landslides have damaged 286 houses, 105 cowsheds, 49 bridges, two schools, and two government office buildings.
The number of displaced households stands at 4,472 over the past two months.
