KATHMANDU: Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Center), has proposed that government employees should not be suspended unless they are convicted by a court in a corruption case.
During a discussion on the bill to amend the Corruption Control Act, 2059, in a meeting of the State Management and Good Governance Committee, Dahal emphasized the need to update the Act to reflect current circumstances.
“The Act was enacted in 2059, and much has changed since then. The governance system has evolved, so the Act must be amended accordingly,” Dahal stated.
He further questioned the current practice of suspending employees as soon as the anti-corruption body files a case against them, suggesting that the decision should depend on a court order.
“Should we wait for the court’s verdict before suspending someone?” Dahal asked.
