KATHMANDU: Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal, Abrar H. Hasmi, reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to enhancing cooperation and partnership with Nepal.

Speaking at a program in Kathmandu last evening, held in honor of Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day, Ambassador Hasmi expressed Pakistan’s ongoing support for Nepal.

During the event, Nepal’s Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav was the chief guest.

Ambassador Hasmi highlighted the fruitful partnership between Pakistan and Nepal across various sectors including education, defense, banking, health, and other technical fields.

He noted that over seven thousand Nepalese professionals educated in Pakistan—ranging from doctors and engineers to journalists and pilots—are making significant contributions to Nepal’s progress.

Ambassador Hasmi also addressed the shared challenges both countries face due to climate change.

He pointed out that the Himalayan regions in both Pakistan and Nepal are ecologically vulnerable, with risks such as melting glaciers and potential glacier eruptions.

He stressed that these issues could pose long-term challenges to food and water security and emphasized the importance of addressing these challenges for sustainable development in the region.

Reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to fostering peaceful and friendly relations globally, Ambassador Hasmi emphasized Pakistan’s role in contributing to world peace through the United Nations peacekeeping force.

He highlighted the strong partnership between Pakistan and Nepal in regional and multilateral forums, particularly within the United Nations and the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).

Ambassador Hasmi also recalled the existing partnership agreements between the two countries in areas such as trade, air services, culture, tourism, and agriculture.

He expressed a commitment to further expanding cooperation in climate change, information technology, physical infrastructure, and human resource development through bilateral mechanisms.
