Indian national arrested with gold at TIA

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested an Indian citizen with 99.41 grams of yellow metal, believed to be gold, that was smuggled through customs at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

The Central Police Spokesperson DIG Dan Bahadur Karki, identified the arrested individual as 41-year-old Deepak Jayaramdas Ghind.

“Ghind, who arrived in Kathmandu from Sharjah on an Air Arabia flight, was apprehended during a customs check at TIA last night,” Karki stated.

In addition to the yellow metal, authorities confiscated a chain, two bracelets, four mobile phones, and four laptops from Ghind.

Further investigation into the case is ongoing, Karki added.
