KATHMANDU: Addressing the party’s parliamentary meeting held today at the federal parliament building premises, CPN (UML) chair KP Sharma Oli reaffirmed his party’s commitment to maintaining decent parliamentary practices amidst ongoing protests by the main opposition Nepali Congress.

Chairperson Oli emphasized the importance of evidence-based accusations in parliamentary proceedings, stating that unfounded allegations should not warrant the formation of parliamentary committees.

He questioned the unequal speaking rights within the parliament, stressing that all parties should have an equal opportunity to voice their concerns.

Asserting their dedication to parliamentary decorum, Leader Oli urged for immediate functioning of the parliament while calling for restraint from the Nepali Congress.

He also expressed efforts to unite political parties after assessing the current situation.

Former Prime Minister Oli proposed engaging in parliamentary debates the following day, advocating for constructive dialogue.

Additionally, Mahesh Kumar Bartaula, the chief whip of the party’s parliamentary faction, briefed the media on discussions regarding the roles of UML lawmakers in addressing the policies and programs presented in Parliament.

Party leaders, including Vice Chair Bishnu Paudel, General Secretary Shankar Pokharel, and former Finance Minister Dr. Yuvaraj Khatiwada, provided guidance to MPs on parliamentary agendas during the meeting.
