Hearing concludes in Sandeep Lamichhane’s rape case

KATHMANDU: The hearing for the rape case involving cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane has come to a close.

The proceedings, which commenced on Tuesday, continued through Wednesday, culminating in the conclusion of the hearing.

Senior advocates Ram Narayan Bidari, Raman Shrestha, Shambu Thapa, Murari Sapkota, and Krishna Sapkota presented their arguments on behalf of cricketer Lamichhane, also questioning the verdict of the Kathmandu District Court that convicted Lamichhane in the rape case.

Representatives for the girl from Gaushala-26, along with government advocates and others, presented their case as well.

Initially, the Kathmandu District Court sentenced Sandeep to eight years of imprisonment for the alleged rape incident in Gaushala-26.

Sandeep subsequently appealed this verdict at the Patan High Court, where the case has experienced five postponements.

With the conclusion of the hearing, a verdict in the case is anticipated to be delivered shortly.
