KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML and Maoist Center are set to hold a joint assembly in Ilam-2 on Wednesday.
Udaya Rai, Vice Chairman of Ilam CPN-UML, said that Deumai Municipality will host the assembly in Mangalbaray of Ilam.
Top leaders, including UML Chairman KP Oli, are expected to address the mass assembly.
Even though Chairman of the Maoist Center and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal had plans to address the assembly, it is not yet certain whether he would participate.
By-election in Ilam-2 has been scheduled on April 27.
The CPN-UML has nominated 32-year-old Suhang Nembang in Ilam-2, son of the late Subash Chandra Nemwang, who won the seat for 25 consecutive years.
Similarly, the Nepali Congress has put forward Dambar Bahadur Khadka as a candidate in Ilam-2.
Khadka was also a candidate in the previous election, narrowly losing to UML’s Subash Nemwang.
The Rastriya Swatantra Party has nominated Milan Limbu, a journalist.
Initially standing as an independent candidate, Limbu later joined the RSP.
