KATHMANDU: Microfinance victims and government representatives have signed a six-point agreement to address the concerns of the people affected by the microfinance loans.
On Friday, a government team and representatives of the microfinance victims convened at the Ministry of Finance for discussions.
The agreement letter has been signed by Narayan Prasad Risal from the Ministry of Finance, who heads the Financial Management and Institutions Division, and Punaram (Maniram) Gyawali, the coordinator of the negotiating team representing the protesters.
In recent days, there have been protests by microfinance victims in Kathmandu.
In this context, the Ministry of Finance, under the leadership of Risal, formed a dialogue committee and invited representatives of the affected individuals for discussions.
The committee includes Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, Joint Secretary and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Jhaindra Guragain, Under Secretary of the Ministry of Law, and representatives from the Nepal Rastra Bank.
Keshav Upreti from the Ministry of Finance serves as the committee’s secretary.
