Janamat Party to support ruling coalition in constituencies without its own nominees



KATHMANDU: The Janamat Party has announced its decision to back candidates from the ruling alliance in constituencies where the party does not field its own candidates for the upcoming National Assembly elections.

Previously, due to dissatisfaction with the ruling coalition’s reluctance to allocate seats to the party, Dr. CK Raut’s party had planned to nominate its own candidates. The Janamat Party has now nominated candidates in other clusters of Madhes and Lumbini provinces.

For the Lumbini province cluster, Balgovinda Chaudhary (Tharu), and for the Madhes cluster, Ramshankar Mahaseth have been nominated as Janamat party candidates.

In a statement issued on Monday, Dr. Raut mentioned that his party would cast votes for its candidates in Lumbini and Madhes, while supporting the ruling coalition candidates in the remaining 17 seats.

The National Assembly election is scheduled for January 25.

The seat-sharing distribution among the ruling coalition candidates includes 10 seats for the Nepali Congress, 6 for CPN-Maoist Center, 2 for CPN-Unified Socialist, and 1 for Janata Socialist Party.
