Nine dead so far as passenger bus plunges into Tamakoshi River in Ramechhap



MANTHALI: Nine people have died so far after a passenger bus travelling from Kathmandu to Okhaldhunga plunged into the Tamakoshi River on Tuesday afternoon.

The bus, numbered Province 3–01-005 Kha 9975, fell into the river at Triveni Ghat, Ward 6 of Manthali Municipality, Ramechhap. Six of the victims died at the scene.

Ramechhap Chief District Officer Shyam Krishna Thapa confirmed the death toll, while rescue teams, including divers from the Armed Police Force and the local disaster management unit, continue searching for anyone still trapped in the river.

The bus reportedly left Kathmandu with eight passengers, but authorities found that around 17 people, including those without tickets, were on board at the time of the accident.
