Dashain bazaar sees sharp drop in sales, transactions plummet to Rs 30 million

DHANUSHA: The annual Dashain bazaar organized in the premises of Gopal Dharmashala of Janakpurdham made the transaction of Rs 30 million.

The transaction declined sharply this year, according to former chair of FNCCI Janakpur chapter, Jitendra Mahasetha.

Last year, the sales recorded nearly Rs 80 million. Senior vice chair of the chapter, Manoj Kumar Saha, also admitted that bazaar could not secure transaction as it was in the past.

Proprietor of Sulav Kitchen Centre, Ganga Ram Sah, who has been selling goods by setting up stalls during the fair for a decade, expressed worry that the salesmen this year could not make 50 percent of the last year transaction.

It was difficult to manage even the spending. Similarly, Bal Ram Saha, 60, viewed, “Even the expense for staffs was not earned. We could earn more at our own counters than in this bazaar.”

He blamed that bazaar management was poor. During the Dashain bazaar, various goods ranging from daily essentials to festival necessaries are in transaction.

Generally, people throng such sale stalls to buy goods at lower prices. The bazaar is being organized every year for 48 years.
