Moderate to heavy rain expected today



KATHMANDU: The monsoon winds continue to affect the country, with the low-pressure system of the monsoon remaining in its normal position.

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has reported that the weather across the country is generally cloudy at present.

Light to moderate rainfall is occurring in parts of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces.

This afternoon, the Department has forecasted generally cloudy weather nationwide, with light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning expected in various places across all provinces.

Heavy rainfall is likely in one or two locations within Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces.

Tonight, the country is expected to remain partly to generally cloudy. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is forecasted for a few areas in Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.

Heavy rainfall is anticipated in one or two locations in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces over the next 24 hours.

The Department has urged the public to stay alert as the weather may impact agriculture, health, tourism, mountaineering, and transportation, including road and air travel.

In the last six hours, moderate to heavy rainfall has been observed in Morang, Dhankuta, and Lamjung.

Other affected areas include Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Okhaldhunga, Saptari, and adjoining areas of Madhes province, as well as Dolakha, Sindhupalchowk, Nuwakot of Bagmati province, and Gorkha and Kaski of Gandaki province, with some rainfall also recorded in Lumbini and Karnali provinces.
