KAILALI: Chief Minister of Sudurpaschim Province Kamal Bahadur Shah is scheduled to seek a vote of confidence today.
Chief Minister Shah’s personal secretary, Ram Bista, announced that Shah will seek the vote of confidence during the state assembly meeting scheduled for today.
Shah, who was reappointed as Chief Minister, was supported by the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML for his second term in office.
The Nagarik Unmukti Party is also part of the Shah-led government, alongside Nepali Congress and UML.
According to the constitutional provision, specifically clause (2) of Article 168, a Chief Minister appointed in this manner must secure a vote of confidence from the House within one month.
To obtain a majority in the 53-member Sudurpaschim Provincial Assembly, Shah needs the support of at least 27 assembly members.
He has the backing of 18 members from the ruling Nepali Congress and 11 from UML.
Additionally, the Nagarik Unmukti Party has pledged its support for Shah’s vote of confidence.
