Koshi Cabinet: Chief Minister Karki preparing to sack Maoist Center ministers to vacate seat for NC

KATHMANDU: Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki has started preparations to dismiss the ministers representing the CPN-Maoist Center to vacate seats for Nepali Congress candidates in the cabinet.

According to Karki’s Secretariat, the Chief Minister has already requested the Maoist Center to quit the government to facilitate the cabinet reshuffle.`

This move follows the formation of the NC-UML coalition at the federal level, which has also impacted provincial politics.

Currently, the UML and Maoist Center are in the government in Koshi, with the CPN-Unified Socialist and Janata Samajbadi Party providing support.

The Maoist Center holds three ministerial and one state ministerial positions: Minister for Tourism Forests and Environment Narayan Burja Magar; Minister for Health Rajendra Karki; Minister for Physical Infrastructure Ganesh Upreti, and State Minister for Tourism, Bandana Jhangar.

Despite the Chief Minister’s request to vacate the cabinet, the Maoist Center’s province committee has been waiting for the party headquarters’ instructions ahead.
