CHITWAN: The bodies of five passengers who went missing along with two buses that plunged into the Trishuli river after being swept away by a landslide on Friday have been recovered.
The identities of three bodies found in the Narayani river on Saturday have been confirmed.
Bheshraj Rijal, spokesman for the District Police Office, stated that the identified bodies include 22-year-old Bikas Pariyar from Chitwan Madi Municipality-1, 19-year-old Ramit Kushar Majhi from Sarlahi Barhathwa Municipality-3, and 28-year-old Rishi Pal Sah from Sitamani, Bihar, India.
On Friday, two passenger buses, one en route to Kathmandu from Birgunj and another to Gaur from Kathmandu, were swept into the Trishuli river after a landslide at Simaltal Bharatpur Metropolitan City-29.
The buses were carrying 27 and 24 passengers, respectively.
The search for the missing buses and passengers continues today, with no sign of the bus wreckage so far.
Chief District Officer Indradev Yadav stated that a large number of security personnel have been mobilized for the search operation in Simaltal and along the Narayani river downstream.
