Maoist Center takes action against MP Devkota for “floor crossing”

POKHARA: The Maoist Center has initiated disciplinary measures against Gandaki Province Member of Parliament (MP) Phanindra Devkota for “floor crossing” and giving a vote of confidence in favor of Chief Minister.

Hari Bahadur Chuman, leader of the Maoist Parliamentary Party, formally notified the parliament secretariat of Devkota’s actions.

The Speaker is expected to announce this disciplinary action during the upcoming provincial assembly meeting.

If confirmed, Devkota will be ousted from his parliamentary position.

Devkota, originally from the Nepal Samajwadi Party, contested the election in Gorkha 2 (A) under the Maoist Center party’s banner.

Despite the Maoist parliamentary party’s directive, Devkota supported Chief Minister Surendraraj Pandey with his vote of confidence, subsequently assuming the role of Minister of Energy.
