KATHMANDU: Chief coach Vincenzo Alberto Annese has unveiled a 28-member football team today for the upcoming match against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the second leg of the World Cup qualifiers.
The Nepali national football team’s lineup includes Kiran Chemjong, Abisek Baral, Bishal Sunar, and Santosh Mahat as goalkeepers.
Defenders selected for the match are Abisek Limbu, Ananta Tamang, Bimal Pandey, Bishal Basnet, Chhiring Lama, Rohit Chand, Sanish Shrestha, Saubhagya Rai, Ajaya Chaudhary, and Yogest Gurung.
Additionally, Bharat Khawas, Laken Limbu, Mani Kumar Lama, Manish Dangi, Basanta Jimba, Phatteman Ghale, Rohan Karki, and Sumit Shrestha have been named as midfielders.
The forward positions will be filled by Anjan Bista, Dinesh Henjan, Gillespie Jung Karki, Hisub Thapaliya, Samir Tamang, and Sanjeev Bista.
Originally slated for June 6 at the Dasharath Stadium, the match between Nepal and UAE will now be held at a ‘neutral venue’ as per the directive of the Asia Football Federation (AFC), citing stadium standards.
