Talks between PM Dahal and NC leaders underway at Baluwatar

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda is holding talks with Nepali Congress leaders at Baluwatar.

Prime Minister Dahal called NC General Secretary Gagan Thapa and Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak to Baluwatar for talks in a bid to resolve the ongoing deadlock in Parliament.

The main opposition party, Nepali Congress, has been obstructing parliamentary proceedings for some time, insisting on the formation of a parliamentary committee to investigate Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamchiane in a cooperative fraud case.

Despite the government’s plan to present the policies and programs for the next fiscal year in Parliament today, proceedings have been stalled as the Nepali Congress persists in its demand for the inquiry committee.

In response, Prime Minister Dahal has initiated discussions with Congress leaders to seek a resolution.

Sunday saw Prime Minister Dahal engaging in discussions with NC leaders as well, with the Nepali Congress reporting a positive tone from the meeting.

However, no concrete decisions have been reached on resolving the impasse.
