KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Finance has adopted a strategy of budget transfers, program amendments, and bolstering expenditures from allocations categorized under ‘miscellaneous’ headings.
As per the office of Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun, in the last month alone, government agencies have disbursed Rs 1.63 billion through budget transfers.
Additionally, programs worth Rs 2.63 billion have been revised, and Rs 36.50 billion from miscellaneous expenditures has been utilized.
Moving funds between programs within the same budget heading is termed as program amendments.
These actions align with the Financial Procedures and Fiscal Responsibility Act, which includes provisions for budget transfers.
The Ministry aims to augment budget expenditure while adhering to the boundaries stipulated by the Act.
Among the total budget of Rs 1.63 billion managed through budget transfers, the Ministry of Health and Population has conducted the highest transfers, amounting to Rs 644 million, followed by the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, with Rs 488 million, sources report.
