DHANGADHI: The Supreme Court has directed the reinstatement of Sudurpaschim Province lawmaker, Indira Giri.

Following the Supreme Court’s interim order preventing Giri’s removal from office, she has been reinstated.

SC single bench of Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut issued an interim order reinstating Giri as a member of parliament.

Previously, amid escalating conflicts within the party, Nagarik Unmukti Party Chair Ranjita Shrestha had written to the province Speaker requesting Giri’s removal from her position.

Giri belongs to the Resham Chaudhary faction within the Nagarik Unmukti Party.

Following Chairperson Shrestha’s letter, the Sudurpaschim Province Assembly Speaker had announced Giri’s dismissal from her post.

Nagarik Unmukti Party, a significant player in Sudurpaschim Province, is divided over which alliance to join in forming the government.

While Chairperson Shrestha advocates for strengthening the alliance with CPN-Maoist Center, CPN-UML, and CPN-Unified Socialist Party, Resham Chaudhary stresses forming an alliance with Nepali Congress.

Ranjita and Resham are husband and wife.
