Jeep Accident Update: Death toll rises to seven

TAKSAR: The toll from a devastating jeep accident in Bakhakuwa, Belaka-7, Udayapur district, has tragically climbed to seven, according to the District Police Office Bhojpur.

Among the deceased are a minor, three men, and three women.

The ill-fated jeep, carrying a total of fourteen passengers, was en route from Dharan to Dakshin Ghoretar of Bhojpur when the accident occurred around 1:30 pm today.

The seven injured individuals have been promptly transferred to the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan, for urgent medical attention, as confirmed by the police.

Initial investigations suggest that the accident may have been caused by overloading, as the jeep exceeded its passenger capacity while navigating a slope.

Police Inspector Dal Kumar Rai, Information Officer at the District Police Office Bhojpur, informed that the identities of the deceased, except for Man Bahadur Basnet, the jeep driver, are yet to be confirmed.

The jeep reportedly plunged approximately 300 meters off the road, further intensifying the severity of the incident.
