KATHMANDU: Kathmandu University (KU) is gearing up to host the inaugural International Vice Chancellor Meet, commencing tomorrow.
Professor Dr. Bhola Thapa, Vice Chancellor of KU, expressed that this three-day conclave, a first of its kind in Nepal’s academic history, is aimed at globalizing the nation’s higher education sector and bolstering the University’s international relations.
Organized jointly by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and KU’s management, the event, titled the North Zone Vice Chancellors’ Meet 2024 & Bharat-Nepal Higher Education Summit, will see participation from university vice-chancellors representing 150 countries, including Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Thailand, among others.
Vice Chancellor Thapa highlighted that the conference will serve as a platform for discussions on various contemporary issues in higher education, such as internationalization, inter-university collaboration, global higher education policies, and more.
He further disclosed that 227 individuals have confirmed their attendance, with a significant portion of delegates hailing from India. Additionally, representatives from universities across Southeast Asia, Europe, and Africa will also be in attendance, enriching the discourse with diverse perspectives.
