Maoist Center for reconnecting with people over govt focus

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Maoist Center Standing Committee has reportedly concluded with the message that the Maoists should reconnect with the people rather than focus on government positions.

The Standing Committee meeting, held today, recognized the encouraging results of the party’s performance in the local elections.

Spokesperson Agni Sapkota shared that the local elections have conveyed a significant message: the country cannot move towards a two-party system.

Sapkota emphasized that the Maoist party’s priority should be to reconnect with the people, rather than the government.

“There is widespread dissatisfaction, disappointment, and anger among the people regarding every aspect of this government,” he said.

Additionally, Sapkota mentioned that the party has scheduled a central committee meeting for Poush 21. Prior to that, Standing Committee meetings were held on Poush 18, 19, and 20.

Leaders have reflected that with a bit more effort in today’s meeting, they might have secured a victory in the Kirtipur election.

Discussions are also ongoing about how to maintain strong connections with the people, with party leaders continuing to engage directly with grassroots supporters in the base areas.
