Kathmandu metropolis has 95.5 per cent literacy



KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has achieved a literacy rate of 95.5 percent.

The metropolis, which has a population of 862,400, reported a 53 percent completion rate for infrastructure development and physical progress of projects and programs for the Fiscal Year 2080/81 (2023-24), according to Sumitra Lamichhane, Chief of KMC’s Plan Monitoring and Evaluation Unit.

Out of the allocated budget of Rs 24.198 billion for the last fiscal year, KMC utilized only Rs 12.345 billion.

Additionally, Rs 1.566 billion was spent on projects and programs carried out by local, provincial, and federal offices in Kathmandu during FY 2023/24.
