KATHMANDU: As the government prepares to table the Committee’s Report on the Investigation of Disappeared Persons and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (Third Amendment) Bill, 2081 in parliament, a writ petition has been filed against the bill at the Supreme Court.

Advocate Shyam Krishna Maskey submitted the writ petition, arguing that certain provisions in the bill violate international treaties and practices.

Maskey also contends that these points may further victimize those already affected.

Despite political parties reaching an agreement on the bill and preparing to endorse it in parliament, the petition challenges its legality and potential impact on victims.
