TAPLEJUNG: Nepal’s eastern region has been witnessesing heavy rainfall as the monsoon season takes hold since Wednesday.
The downpour has triggered flooding in the hill districts, including Taplejung.
The Tamor Corridor road, linking the Phungling municipality and Phattanglung rural municipality, grapples with blockades due to flooding in Sinsawakhola, situated in Tapethok, Phattanglung-5 Tapethok.
Rising waters claim several wooden bridges and roads, disrupting traffic flow.
There are no reported human casualties, police said.
As the Sinsawa River merges with the Tamor River, forming a dam-like obstruction, the corridor has succumbed to inundation.
However, concerns have persisted over potential inundation of essential infrastructure and residential areas in Tapethok Bagar, including the police post, health facilities, and civilian homes.
Sub-Inspector Suraj Sinjali, in charge of the Tapethok police station, said he is awaiting reports detailing the extent of damage caused by the Sisawa flood.
The flood also halted all vehicular movement into Paktanglung Rural Municipality via the Tamor Corridor.
