KATHMANDU: CPN UML Chairperson and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli expressed his optimism that the advent of the New Year 2081 BS would infuse Nepalis with renewed hope, lifting them from despair and disillusionment.

Speaking at a virtual greetings exchange program organized by the Overseas Nepali Forum (ONF) to mark the New Year 2081, Chair Oli emphasized the need for Nepalis to take charge of building their nation.

He underscored the importance of confidence, particularly among the youth, in shaping the country’s future.

Identifying three prevailing misconceptions hindering the progress towards a prosperous Nepal, Oli cautioned against falling prey to them.

These misconceptions, according to Oli, include the belief that all old political parties are ineffective, the notion of inherited supremacy by certain groups, and the pessimistic view that Nepal is unbuildable.

Shifting focus, the former Prime Minister asserted that the country was now on the right trajectory following the reconfiguration of power dynamics. He assured that national welfare and development would gain momentum swiftly.

Oli attributed the setback Nepal faced to the coalition government led by the Nepali Congress, which toppled the UML-led administration, resulting in significant losses for the nation.

He argued that the formation of a new power equation was necessary to safeguard national interests.

“In light of the new equation, circumstances have evolved, and efforts are underway to enhance good governance and accelerate development, thereby improving citizens’ quality of life,” Oli stated.

With these remarks, Oli aimed to instill a sense of collective responsibility and determination among Nepalis as they embark on the journey of nation-building in the New Year.
