Three Dolpa children succumb to injuries from forest fire

DOLPA:  In a devastating turn of events, all three children critically injured in a forest fire at Sun Community Forest of Tripurasundari Municipality-4 in Dolpa district have tragically succumbed to their burn injuries.

Chief District Officer Tulasi Prasad Dahal confirmed that two of the children passed away today while undergoing treatment in Kathmandu, while the third child had already lost their life at District Hospital, Dolpa on Friday.

The victims, identified as Bibas Budha (12), Samant Budha (13), and Salas Budha (10), sustained severe injuries in the blaze while collecting Guchhi mushrooms in the nearby community forest.

“All of them were from the same village,” shared Tripurasundaru-4 Chairperson Ranjit Budha.

Bibas and Samant were airlifted to Kathmandu for urgent medical treatment.

Karnali Province Assembly member Bir Bahadur Shahi revealed ongoing coordination between Tripurasundari Municipality and the Karnali provincial government to cover the helicopter fare amounting to Rs 1.65 million.

This tragic incident follows the loss of three army personnel during firefighting efforts at Masta Community Forest in Thulobheri Municipality-4, Dolpa, earlier this week. The community mourns these heartbreaking losses, deeply saddened by the impact of the forest fires on their lives and livelihoods.
