Prime Minister Dahal secures vote of confidence in parliament
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, also the Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center), emerged victorious in a crucial vote of confidence on Wednesday. PM Dahal, in accordance with Rule 155 of the House of Representatives Regulations, 2079 BS, and Article 100, Sub-Article (2) of the Constitution of Nepal, presented a proposal seeking the vote of confidence during the House of Representatives session. During the session, PM Dahal tabled the proposal, urging the House to express its confidence in him as the Prime Minister.
PM Dahal confident in facing challenges amidst potential alliance of NC and UML
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, stated that he is prepared to face any challenges that may arise from a potential alliance between the two major parties, Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML. The response comes in the wake of warnings and alerts from NC General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma and CPN-Unified Socialist party’s Rajendra Pandey, regarding the potential consequences for the Maoist Center Chairman if NC and UML unite.
PNG claims Tri-Nations T20I Series title with victory over Nepal
Papua New Guinea (PNG) emerged victorious in the Tri-nations T20 International Series held in Hong Kong, defeating Nepal by 86 runs in the finals. In a thrilling finale, PNG clinched the title after posting a formidable total of 171 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Nepal, having won the toss, opted to bowl first and managed to restrict PNG’s scoring opportunities. Nepal’s bowling attack, led by Kushal Bhurtel and Aakash Chand, performed admirably, with each claiming three wickets, while Karan KC and Gulsan Jha contributed with one wicket each.

Chairman of Janamat Party, CK Raut, has pushed for a transformative change in the political landscape by emphasizing for a directly-elected Prime Minister by the people. In an address to the House of Representatives on Wednesday, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal faced criticism from CK Raut for what he perceived as a repeated insult to the people’s vote. Raut emphasized the need to move away from the traditional method of gaining confidence through parliamentary votes, asserting, “Repeatedly taking the vote of confidence has insulted the dignified Parliament.”

CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli has called upon Sher Bahadur Deuba, the President of the main opposition party Nepali Congress, to engage in dialogue and discussion. Addressing the House of Representatives meeting on Wednesday, Oli emphasized the need for smooth transitions in the face of the evolving environment and current challenges. Expressing concern about the state of the nation, Oli urged Deuba to prioritize constructive dialogue over opposition politics.
Former Lumbini State Chief Yadav passes away at 80
Dharmanath Prasad Yadav, the former State Chief of Lumbini Province, breathed his last at the age of 80 at his residence in Sukhipur Municipality 6, Siraha, on Tuesday night. A prominent figure in the political arena, Yadav had been a stalwart leader and was appointed as the head of Lumbini province on November 4, 2019, representing the CPN-UML.
Gold price down by Rs 1,000 per tola today
Gold price decreased by Rs 1,000 per tola in the Nepali market today. According to the Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, the price of fine gold has been fixed at Rs 125,000 per tola and standard gold is traded at Rs 124,400 per tola. The precious yellow metal was traded at Rs. 126,000 per tola, and standard gold at Rs. 125,400 per tola on Tuesday. Similarly, the price of silver has been fixed at Rs 1,465 per tola today.
NEPSE index drops by 2.48 points on Wednesday
The NEPSE index has experienced a decline of 2.48 points. On Wednesday, the share market closed at 2108.72 points, witnessing a decrease of 2.48 points. A total of 310 companies traded 10,889,634 shares, resulting in a transaction worth Rs 4,248,523,332. While the share prices of 94 companies increased, 133 companies saw a decrease in their share prices. The share prices of 16 companies remained stable.
Government calls microfinance struggle committee for meeting
The Ministry of Finance has convened a meeting with the microfinance struggle committee. Scheduled for Monday at 2 pm at Singha Durbar, Finance Minister Barsaman Pun has instructed relevant authorities to hold discussions with representatives of microfinance institution victims. They are tasked with compiling a report proposing solutions to address the victims’ demands.
Labor Ministry forms committee to review decisions made by outgoing minister
The Ministry of Labor, Employment, and Social Security has formed a three-member committee to evaluate the implementation of a 17-point directive issued by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal. Previously, the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers had issued these directives to the ministry, which were not acted upon by the outgoing minister. The newly appointed minister, Dor Prasad Aryal, has tasked a committee, led by Joint Secretary Govinda Prasad Rijal, with studying the implementation of these directives and reviewing opaque and contested decisions made by the outgoing minister. The committee has been given 21 days to submit a comprehensive report after examining the Prime Minister’s directives, various media reports, laborer grievances, and stakeholder concerns.
Sports Ministry calls for action against ANFA officials’ unapproved foreign visit
The Ministry of Youth and Sports has voiced its concern regarding the unauthorized foreign visit of 10 officials from the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA). Expressing its objection, the Ministry directed the National Sports Council (NSC) to take appropriate action against ANFA for their overseas trip without prior permission from the NSC. According to the National Sports Development Act, 2077, obtaining approval from the NSC is mandatory for officials to undertake official trips abroad.
