KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Youth and Sports has voiced its concern regarding the unauthorized foreign visit of 10 officials from the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA).
Expressing its objection, the Ministry directed the National Sports Council (NSC) to take appropriate action against ANFA for their overseas trip without prior permission from the NSC.
According to the National Sports Development Act, 2077, obtaining approval from the NSC is mandatory for officials to undertake official trips abroad.
The national football team of Nepal is currently engaged in a friendly match against Malaysia on March 15 as part of the World Cup qualifiers.
Following this friendly match, the Nepali team is slated to compete in two ‘Home and Away’ matches against Bahrain on March 21 and 26.
Ten ANFA officials accompanied the Nepali team during their current tour in Malaysia.
In a press statement released on Wednesday, the Ministry also urged the Home Ministry to grant permission for sports officials to travel abroad for international matches, training sessions, seminars, and conferences only after obtaining approval from the NSC.
