Maoist Center Standing Committee convenes to discuss party statute

KATHMANDU: The Standing Committee of the CPN (Maoist Center) is scheduled to convene today to deliberate on the draft statute of the party.

The draft, presented by the Statute Drafting Committee, will be a focal point of discussion during the meeting set to take place at the party headquarters in Parisdanda at 11:00 am, as announced by Vice President and Spokesperson of the party, Agni Prasad Sapkota.

This meeting holds significance as the CPN (Maoist Center) is gearing up for a legislative conference in mid-February. Therefore, the party deems it crucial to review and discuss the draft statute in preparation for the upcoming conference.

The task of drafting the statute was entrusted to a seven-member committee, led by Vice President Pampha Bhusal, and the committee formally submitted the draft to the party chair and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ on Friday.

In addition to the statute discussions, the meeting will also scrutinize the outcomes of the four-month-long ‘Special Transformation Campaign with the People,’ conducted by the party. Provincial in-charges are expected to provide detailed briefings on the campaign’s progress during the meeting.

The ‘Special Transformation Campaign with the People’ unfolded nationwide from September 2, 2023, to January 1, 2024.
