KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli has emphasized that there is no room for relaxation within the government and has directed ministers to expedite their work.

During the signing of performance agreements with the Deputy Prime Minister and ministers at Singha Durbar on Thursday, PM Oli made it clear that ministers are not permitted to rest, cause confusion, or delay their tasks.

He stressed the need for increased planning and activity in their respective fields.

“We don’t have the luxury to slow down or create confusion. There is no rest facility. We must move quickly and efficiently. Work requires meticulous planning, mutual support, and cooperation among ministries,” PM Oli stated.

He also underscored the importance of avoiding duplication of efforts, responsibilities, and expenses.

PM Oli also instructed ministers to identify and resolve any issues within their ministries.

Following the signing of the performance agreements with the Prime Minister, ministers will be required to sign agreements with their respective secretaries.

This contract system, introduced during PM Oli’s previous tenure, aims to ensure timely achievement of targets, enhance service delivery, and facilitate monitoring and evaluation.

The performance agreements for the Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation; the Minister of Forests and Environment; and the Minister of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, who is currently out of the country, will be finalized at a later date.
