KOICA Nepal Office holds photo exhibition and cultural event in Lalitpur



KATHMANDU: The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Nepal Office organized the “2024 KOICA Nepal Office Photo Exhibition and Cultural Event” in Lalitpur.

The event was organized to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Korea and Nepal, which began in 1974.Yarious programs were being organized to celebrate this milestone and highlight the deep ties between the two nations.

The two-day event featured engaging activities and exhibitions, focusing on KOICA’s development cooperation in Nepal, under the theme of prosperity, happiness, and humanity, according to KOICA Nepal.

The exhibition also hinted in some of the cultural aspect of Korea like food, traditional games, calligraphy and K-pop.

Mooheon Kong, Country Director of KOICA Nepal Office, expressed his gratitude to the Government of Nepal and all partners for their crucial support in advancing KOICA s mission.

He mentioned that the exhibition was not merely a showcase of photographs but also a reflection of joint development journey and shared aspirations for prosperity and humanity.

Mani Ratna Sharma, Under Secretary from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, North East Asia Division also highlighted the overall cooperation and support from the Korean Government to Nepal, emphasizing on the importance of cultural exchange in strengthening the relation between the two nations.

Tae Young Park, Ambassador of Korea to Nepal, emphasized on mutual cooperation programs would further strengthen the close ties between Korea and Nepal, elevating the bilateral relationship to new heights.

He also showed his commitment in continued development assistance to Nepal through KOICA, especially in Health, Education, Agriculture, and IT sector.

Likewise, Bharat Mani Subedi, Secretary, Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration (MOFAGA) thanked KOICA and the Korean Government for the continued support to Nepal in various development sector such as foreign employment, education, and people-to-people exchanges since diplomatic ties were established in 1974.

He expressed optimism for continued collaboration, particularly in the economy and investment sectors, and noted that the bilateral employment cooperation has been progressing smoothly.

Similarly, a K-Culture booth was set up, allowing visitors to experience authentic Korean culture through activities such as calligraphy, traditional Korean clothing (Hanbok), and traditional Korean games.
