Dhaka Kumar Shrestha arrested on drug charges
Police have arrested Dhaka Kumar Shrestha, a former Member of Parliament of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), from his clinic in Pokhara on Thursday.
The arrest was part of an ongoing investigation into drug-related activities.
Authorities allege that drugs were being sold from Diya Pharmacy, which is operated by Shrestha.
PM Oli, Prachanda and Deuba hold talks at Baluwatar
A meeting between Prime Minister (PM) KP Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, Chairman of Maoist Center, took place at Baluwatar, the official residence of the Prime Minister.
The three leaders engaged in discussions about current political issues, including the issue of impeaching Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Indira Rana.
PM Oli to address Parliament on September 20
Prime Minister KP Oli is scheduled to address the Parliament on September 16 before traveling to the United States to attend the United Nations General Assembly.
UML Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula stated that Prime Minister Oli will address the House of Representatives meeting prior to his departure.
Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to leave for the U.S. on September 20, a visit that has been approved by the Council of Ministers.
Prachanda emphasizes filling vacant constitutional posts
Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda”, the Chairman of the Maoist Center, has called for the immediate recommendation of candidates to fill all vacant positions in constitutional bodies.
On Thursday morning, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli held a meeting with Prachanda and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar to discuss preparations for the upcoming Constitutional Council meeting.
TikTok seeks Policy Manager for Nepal
TikTok is seeking applications for a Policy Manager to oversee its operations in Nepal.
This move comes as part of TikTok’s efforts to address the 10-month ban imposed by the Nepalese government.
By appointing a high-level Policy Manager, TikTok said it aims to establish a stronger relationship with Nepalese authorities and navigate the regulatory landscape effectively.
Concession shops targeting festivals to open from September 23
Discounted price shops aimed at the upcoming festivals will be operational from September 23 through Chhath.
The Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supply has issued a directive to Nepal Oil Corporation, Food Management and Trade Company Limited, Salt Trading Corporation Limited, and Dairy Development Corporation to establish concession stores for the festival.
According to the Ministry, these shops will operate throughout the festive period to provide essential food and consumer goods at discounted prices, catering to the needs of the general public.
NAC’s wide-body aircraft back to Nepal after undergoing C-check in Italy
The wide-body A-330 aircraft of Nepal Airlines has arrived in Kathmandu today after a C-check in Italy.
The plane with the call sign ‘N ALY’ was taken to Italy on June 22 for a C-check and it landed at Tribhuvan International Airport this morning after about two and half months.
Gold price decreases in domestic market today
Gold and silver prices experienced fluctuations recently.
On Thursday, gold decreased by 100 rupees, while silver saw an increase of 15 rupees.
According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Traders, gold is priced at 153,300 rupees per tola, and silver was at 1,795 rupees per tola today.
