Concession shops targeting festivals to open from September 23

KATHMANDU: Discounted price shops aimed at the upcoming festivals will be operational from September 23 through Chhath.

The Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supply has issued a directive to Nepal Oil Corporation, Food Management and Trade Company Limited, Salt Trading Corporation Limited, and Dairy Development Corporation to establish concession stores for the festival.

According to the Ministry, these shops will operate throughout the festive period to provide essential food and consumer goods at discounted prices, catering to the needs of the general public.

Food Management and Trading Company Limited will run discount price shops at 61 locations across 42 districts.

These shops will offer Rs 5 discount per kg on all types of rice.

Additionally, all types of pulses and legumes will be discounted by Rs 5 per kg.

Wheat flour, sugar, and other similar items will be offered at Rs 7 off per kg, while sunflower, soybean, and mustard oil will be discounted by Rs 7 per liter.

DDC ghee will have Rs 10 discount per liter, and chicken, and mutton will be available at Rs 10 off per kg.

Similarly, Salt Trading Corporation will operate discount price shops at nine locations, including three mobile shops in the Kathmandu Valley.

Outside the valley, Salt Trading will provide concessional facilities in 22 additional districts.
