Maoist Center holding Standing Committee meet even today

KATHMANDU: The Standing Committee meeting of the Maoist Center is taking place today as well.

The meeting is taking place at the party’s central office in Parisdanda in Koteswor.

The meeting, which has been in progress since Friday, sees leaders continuing to discuss recent political developments, the party’s role, the opposition’s position, public pressure programs, and the expansion and strengthening of mass organizations.

Maoist Center leaders are also deliberating on special programs aimed at engaging with the public.

On Sunday, several leaders criticized Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, calling for the establishment of a well-defined legal system for party operations.

Deputy General Secretary Janardan Sharma emphasized that Chairman Dahal is accountable for recent political shifts and has presented three written options for the transfer of party leadership.

Another Deputy General Secretary, Barshaman Pun, suggested that with Chairman Dahal’s leadership spanning over three and a half decades, it is time to define a term limit for the leadership.

Following the Standing Committee meeting, the Maoist Center plans to convene a Central Committee meeting.
