KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) has reiterated its commitment to protecting the Constitution of Nepal, asserting that it does not require external instructions to do so.
During a session in the House of Representatives on Friday, NC lawmaker Ramesh Lekhak, also a prominent party member, emphasized that the Nepali Congress has been a staunch advocate for democracy since its inception.
“The Nepali Congress has always fought for democracy. Therefore, it is unfounded to make hypothetical accusations against us regarding the undermining of the democratic constitution. This constitution was established by us, and we will defend it,” he stated.
Lekhak also addressed concerns about the recent alliance with the UML, insisting that there is no reason to panic.
“When two major parties come together, there’s no cause for worry. This isn’t a new development; historically, large parties have united for the greater good. We are creating new history through this collaboration,” he concluded.
