101 people dead from monsoon-induced disasters in Nepal so far



KATHMANDU: As of now, 101 people have lost their lives due to monsoon-induced disasters across the country.

From June 28, 9 AM to July 12, 8 AM, 101 people have been killed, 108 have sustained injuries, and six are still missing in floods and landslides, according to Dhan Bahadur Karki, the spokesperson for the Nepal Police.

The fatalities include one in Kathmandu, 19 in Koshi Province, six in Bagmati Province, 36 in Gandaki Province, 23 in Lumbini Province, four in Karnali, and seven in Sudurpaschim Province.

Among the victims, 27 died due to floods, 50 due to landslides, and 23 due to lightning strikes.

Meanwhile, two individuals in Koshi, two in Bagmati, and one each in Gandaki and Sudurpaschim are currently missing.

The police also reported approximately NPR 4,120,000 in physical destruction.

Additionally, 501 police personnel have been mobilized for search and rescue operations.
