CK Raut advocates for directly elected Prime Minister system

KATHMANDU: The Janamat Party Chairman and lawmaker Dr. Chandra Kant (CK) Raut, has called for a governance system featuring a directly elected executive prime minister.

He argued that such a system is necessary to overcome the current political instability in the country.

Raut emphasized that his party supports the implementation of direct elections for both the federal and provincial governments.

Addressing the political instability, Raut noted that frequent changes in the ‘prime-ministership’ create uncertainty, which hampers effective governance.

He stated that to resolve these issues, it is appropriate to advance by altering the governance structure.

Raut also expressed his opposition to the practice of party whips in parliament, arguing that it promotes party dominance rather than true democratic processes.
