SC issues show cause order against decisions of Madhes govt

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has issued a show cause order against the Madhes Province government’s decision to distribute money to its lawmakers.

A single bench of Judge Sharanga Subedi issued the order on Wednesday, summoning the government for a discussion.

The first meeting of the Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh, had earlier decided to allocate projects worth Rs 50 million to lawmakers elected through the direct election system and Rs 10.5 million to those elected by the proportional election system.

In response to this decision, Manish Kumar Mandal, Paritosh Kumar Sah, Bikram Bhandari, Ratan Sing, and Abid Husain filed a writ petition at the apex court on Tuesday.
