KATHMANDU: President Ramchandra Paudel has arrived in Geneva to attend the 112th session of the International Labour Conference.
According to Kiran Pokharel, the President’s press advisor, President Paudel was welcomed at the Geneva International Airport by Nepali Ambassador Ram Prasad Subedi and other embassy officials.
The President-led delegation was seen off at Hamad International Airport on Tuesday night by Nepal’s Ambassador to Qatar, Naresh Bikram Dhakal, officials from the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and staff from the Nepali embassy.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that President Paudel is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with the President of the Swiss Confederation, Viola Amherd, today.
On Thursday, President Paudel will address the inaugural session of the Global Coalition Forum for Social Justice.
Additionally, Gilbert F. Houngbo, the Director General of the International Labour Organization (ILO), is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on President Paudel tomorrow.
President Paudel will depart Geneva for Berlin on June 15.
He is on an official visit to Germany at the invitation of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and will hold formal talks with his German counterpart on June 17.
During his stay in Germany, President Paudel will visit the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, the German Research Centre for Geosciences, and the Telegraph Feinberg Campus.
He will also tour Cecilienhof and Sanssouci Palace Gardens and Museum.
On June 16, the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) in Germany will felicitate President Paudel, during which he will address Nepalis living in Germany.
Additionally, the President is scheduled to meet industrialists and businessmen associated with Germany’s trade and investment sectors on June 17.
President Paudel is scheduled to return to Kathmandu on June 19.
