KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has reached out to the main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) for a discussion aimed at breaking the parliamentary deadlock.
The meeting to be held at the Prime Minister’s official residence, Baluwatar intends to address the impasse that hindered proceedings during the extended parliamentary session, particularly due to the Nepali Congress’s stance.
The Nepali Congress has adamantly demanded the formation of a parliamentary inquiry committee, citing alleged involvement of Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane in the misappropriation of cooperative savings.
However, the ruling party has resisted this call, leading to the current deadlock.
As both parties remain firm on their positions, a deadlock persists in the parliamentary proceedings, prompting Prime Minister Prachanda to take proactive steps towards consensus-building.
Expressing the need for dialogue, Prime Minister Dahal has emphasized, “The Minister of Home Affairs deserves the opportunity to address the allegations against him. Denying him this chance goes against democratic principles. We must strive for consensus rather than clinging solely to our individual positions.”
