KATHMANDU: The Weather Forecasting Division has urged people to prepare for a day of changeable weather as rain sweeps through various parts, including Kathmandu today.

The Division has noted the influence of westerly winds, local breezes, and a low-pressure system hovering over Bihar, India, impacting Nepal.

The weather today is expected to witness scattered showers accompanied by winds and lightning across the nation, particularly in Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces.

Throughout the day, most areas will experience light to moderate rainfall, with potential for heavier downpours in certain pockets of Bagmati, Gandaki, Koshi, and Lumbini provinces.

As the afternoon progresses, skies will remain partly to mostly cloudy, with intermittent spells of light to moderate rain, thunder, lightning, and gusts in select regions.

Additionally, isolated heavy rainfall is forecasted in some locales of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini regions.

The Division has also alerted to the likelihood of light snowfall in high hilly and Himalayan areas.

Tonight, the cloud cover will persist nationwide, with continued chances of light to moderate rain, thunder, lightning, and gusty winds in various provinces, including Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini, extending to a few spots in other provinces.
