Lumbini Chief Minister Mahara taking vote of confidence today

KATHMANDU: The newly-appointed Chief Minister of Lumbini Province, Jokh Bahadur Mahara, is taking the vote of confidence today.

Speaker Tularam Gharti Magar has called a Lumbini Provincial Assembly meeting at 1 pm today to conduct the vote of confidence.

Mahara was appointed as the Chief Minister of Lumbini Province by State Chief Amik Sherchan.

Mahara took his oath of office and assumed his position on the same day.

The 87-member provincial assembly requires 44 members for a majority.

Mahara secured his appointment with the support of 29 MPs from UML, 11 from Maoist Center, 4 from Nagarik Unmukti Party, 3 from Janata Samajwdi Party, one from Unified Socialist Party, and one independent lawmaker.

Mahara has appointed one minister each from CPN-UML, Maoist Center, and Janata Samajwadi Party.
